l might sound stupid for asking this by whay are most hockey player on tv left handed...when l play locaclly almost everyone is right handed,,but on tv everyone is left?

because you want to hold your stick with the hand you have the most strength and that you feel more comfortable. Most people have more strength with their right so they hold their stickl with their right hand but you shoot left.

Basically if you're right handed u shoot right, & if left handed u shoot left. You're dominant hand is the control hand lower on the stick (not on the end). As far as why more r left handed, just the luck of the draw.

Holding a Hockey stick is no different than holding a baseball bat. The dominant or control hand goes lower (or higher in the case of baseball) for control & dexterity purposes. The dexterity does not come from the hand on the end of the stick, it comes from the lower hand. The hand on the end of the stick only acts as a pivot point when shooting.

if you are right handed you technically should be shooting right handed..and same goes for left. l am right handed and l shoot left. The reason most players schoot left is because alot of the league players are canadian and most canadian players are taught to shoot left when they start out

Tom is answer is completely wrong. A player is dominant hand is at the top. Skaters do not go around holding their stick mid-shaft, and would have no dexterity if they held it at the top on a same-side shot.

its usually the opposite of ur dominate hand therefore most players shoot left. whoever said its same side is completely wrong, u want ur strong hand at the top where its more effective, ur bottom hand is basically just for grip & so its easy to lean into some shots. take a wrist shot ur top hand does everything. BUT everyone is different my brother shoots right even though he is right handed, that is just the way he first gripped the stick & it felt good, whatever works.

Most of my teammates shoot left, & almost all of them r right handed. However, there r some rightys that shoot right. It also depends on how u were originally taught, as well. l am a left-handed writer, & right handed shooter. When l first started playing hockey, l tried a left stick & a right one. l played with both for a while & quickly determined that shooting right was best for me. l wo not go all technical, but for many players' first time playing hockey, they try both hockey sticks & determine which one feels better for them. No, l am not a physical therapist, but l can tell u this based on my actual experience.

l am right handed but shoot left it more comfortable for me it probably true with most players as to major toms question ibat both perfer right but shoot hockey and golf left

Most want their top hand to be their dominate hand. It is really personal preference though. My cousin and l are both right handed but he plays hockey left and l right. He says l am an idiot for playing that way, but he is played hockey 7 years longer than me and he is a guy and l outplay him every single time.
