l was just looking on the nikebauer website as l am interested in buying a new hockey stick, when l saw a video for the supreme one90 stick and one NHL player who was reviewing it said he loved the stick because it is all black and he usually blacks out his sticks, which lead me to the following question;

Why do some hockey players black our their sticks? apart from the fact it looks really cool with white tape (this is the only reason l can think), is it a hockey superstition? does it actually mean anything? one of my team mates did it but he does not know why, and perhaps i'm asking a pointless question but please any hockey players out there, enlighten me! Thanks

for one, l think it is kind of a hockey tradition to do so and a lot of people just want to copy it.

i also think it covers up any damage and does make the stick look cooler.

A black stick hides the puck better.

they dont spray panint them they sand of the paint or stickers l do it to my sticks on the bottom part normally but some do the hole thing it so post to give u a better grip and a better slap shot

They used to do that with magic marker if a stick from a non-NHL approved company
These days l think it is because supposedly it helps to hide the puck though l have no proof of its efficiency

It hides the puck better. The one95 is actually designed to look like that, with a spray painted look on the bottom, with the stripe on the back looking like paint as well.
