as of right now which team would win the stanley cup?

l was at the Bruins game against the Hurricanes today and even as a Rangers fan l was very impressed with them. l definitely say they're the favorite in the Eastern Conference. Detroit and San Jose in the West look pretty good too so it will be interesting to see who emerges from the West. l would predict a Bruins victory in 6 over the Red Wings.

l think it will come down to San Jose vs. Boston. Last year l was very impressed with the way Boston played Montreal. l couldnt believe how well they played for a team l had previously thought would be out in a second. As well, San Jose has been doing incredibly this season - just getting lots of pucks on net & making all the right choices int he defensive zone. Anyways, so l believe, in the end, San Jose will probably win because of their superstars like Patrick Marleau & Joe Thornton.

l think Boston has the best shot as of yet.

I've done some research on this and it seems that the team that defeats the opponent in each round of the playoffs advances to the next round. If they replicate this feat four times, or in other words, for four rounds, they will be crowned the Stanley Cup champions and thus receive this cup you speak of. So therefore, that team is your answer.

A bunch of teams have a good shot right now.hard to tell.

l am a Devils fan so l want to say the Devils but based on how they played at home against the Thrashers l simply can not. Count out Boston & San Jose , as teams thatwin the Presidents Trophy rarely win it. l would have to say the Capitals right now. It seemed earlier in the year that they would probably win that division with the 7th or 8th record in the East ..... again. But they have really pulled away from everyone & can catch the Bruins. l would say Washington if l had to pick right now.

Earlier in the season, l put money down that either the Sharks, Wings, Bruins, Rangers or Flyers would win it all.

l think l may have overestimated the Rangers, but the other four are still your best bet to win it all.

Lately the East has not played well against the West.

Take the top 3 in the East.
Boston:
24-4-4 vs East teams - 83 winning %
7-3 vs West teams - 75 winning %

Washington:
21-5-3 vs East teams - 81 winning %
6-7 vs West teams - 46 winning %

Philadelphia:
16-6-6 vs East teams - 67 winning %
6-4-3 vs West teams - 57 winning %

and those r the top teams in the East, & it gets worse from there.

In fact, Montreal & Buffalo r the only eastern teams that play better against western teams than eastern teams.

What l am getting at is a Western winner this year. The obvious choices r Detroit & San Jose. The only chance of one of these two not winning is if Kiprusoff can pick it up & push the Flames through, or the high-powered, low-experienced Blackhawks can work their way past one of these two powerhouses.

My prediction: San Jose beats Washington in the finals.

It is still too early to say. The bad news for everyone else is the Red Wings seem to have found their mojo. If they keep it up they are going to be hard to beat.
