They may need to rebuild from the bottom up, but l think Burke needs to shop for a offensive superstar. Of the players who may be traded or will be free agents next year, who should Burke chose?

l am not 100% sure who is becoming a free agent this year, but l will throw a couple names out. If Burke is interested in building an offense around one guy, then l have two names for you.

The first is Ilya Kovalchuk. There r rumours that he wants out of Atlanta, & has the offensive skills to vastly improve the Leafs up front.

The second is Gaborik. He would love to get out from Jacque Lemaire is defensive style. Again, there is doubt as to how long he will remain in Minny, & again, he has the skill to make Toronto a better team.

he needs to build around his young guys and rookies because he will be there at least 6 years so he has the time to make a team thatll last like the wings so no one in particular now but a new goalie would help such as brian boucher

Sure ,he won one SC but that is Brian Murray is doing for 90% of the team. Burke got lucky getting Pronger & Scott Nieds & Beach for dumping Fedorov (gotta get rid of the Russians) Teemu was going to play here no matter who was GM.Once the team won he traded away most of the people from the SC team. He is not that great. Do not expect much.

Burke is unique - the people he comes in contact with on a personal level really like the guy because he is very loyal to his people - they in turn feel the same

wild rumors abound of names like the Sedins and Getzlaf eventually making it to Toronto - l am not certain Kovalchuk or Gaborik would like playing for Ron Wilson though even though those names will pop up and Gaborik is persistent trips to the DL do not make him a good buy at the price he is asking

In two years Rick Nash will be a free agent. If there is anyone more suited to Burke is style of hockey Rick is the man. He is also a Toronto boy and growing up a Leaf fan can make the deal. Mike Cammalleri is another Toronto boy who is a free agent this year. He will fit in nicely on a rebuilding team.
