hav not skated in 5 years of playing hockey wanting to know if anyone who jumped back on the ice after not skating for 4 years were as good as they were before .... or do you have to reteach the same skills

It depends on how old you are now, what was your skill level and what kind of shape are you in?
You do not have to reteach but if you're in decent shape and had pretty good or better skill before you should not have much trouble.
Practice, practice, practice is always the major aspect of getting better.

well it was not exactly years of time, but l missed 2 months with a concussion, and it did not take to long. Just get back out there. Hockey is like riding a bike you never forget. l mean you may be out of shape, but that takes time. Your skills will just need sharpening, nothing that cant be cured with a few shinny hockey games.
My dad has not played in 10+ years, and he recently came out with me at a game and still had the bruiser of a slap shot he had back in high school.

Like riding a bike.once you learn how, you do not forget.

Just take 'er easy the first couple times, and you will be fine.

Was off skates for several years.within 15-20 minutes l was fine (just slower).

l also quit golfing 10 years ago and started playing again this past summer. My skill level was still there but l had better equipment and enjoyed the game even more!
