Crosby. like it or not. is the face of the NHL. All the marketing is Crosby any casual fan will vote for him. Crosby is very talented but hes not even the best player on his team right now let alone the league. You dont have to be informed to vote you just need to be able to push a button

Penguins fans used scripts that Canadiens fans used to vote in their top six at the start of the voting. Saw it on the Penguins message board.

All Star game voting is, by proxy, a popularity contest.
Is Sidney Crosby a popular player? Any measurement of popularity would say he is.
Much ado about nothing. If fans vote him in.great. If not.no worries.

Gonchar and Whitney are ahead of players who have actually PLAYED this year. They are not REAL hockey fans that voted like that.Just teenagers who found a loop hole because they have no life.

Well.Ok then..Crosby is MORE POPULAR than the other two..Crosby is North American.Crosby is highly regarded in Montreal where the game will be held...Crosby has a better points per game average over his career (many people voted prior to the current stats)...Pens fans stuff the box...Crosby is better.
All-Star votes r a popularity contest...Crosby is the most popular player..seems logical to me.
Besides that.you mention REAL fans, l consider myself a real fan & Crosby>Malkin/Ovechkin

l never saw the All-Star game as a game where players get votes depending on how awesomely talented they are.
l always saw it as a popularity contest.

Sadly it is not all just REAL hockey fans that are allowed to vote. All sports all-star balloting should be done by players and coaches. That way, it is an honor to be selected by their peers, not by puck bunnies voting for their cutsie cutsie heart throbs.

Why does it matter? The fan voting ONLY effects the starters. There r plenty of other slots to be filled & Malkin & Ovechkin will still likely get in. Do u think their hearts will be broke if they were not put in by the fans? l would not be surprised if Malkin is put in by fan ballots as well, but still do u think it really hurts the players feelings if they get picked for the roster & r not a starter? Anyway yes the Penguins did take a lesson from the Canadians & started stuffing the box. Penguins players were pretty far behind, & then the Pens started pushing harder to get their fans to do what the Canadians fans were doing. l do not know if Pens fans r upset that it is being admitted, or if it is Canadians fans that give people thumbs down for pointing out that THEY started it. Also Crosby still has more points then Ovie, & some fans would be voting for the three of them because they r going by points leaders. Others r voting for their team.

Puck bunnies are voting for Sid because he is hot. It does not matter that Malkin has more goals and assists (and total points) and Ovechkin is about to overtake Sid for the #2 spot since he is only one point behind him. The bunnies will vote for Sid regardless.
Personally, l still can not believe that Sid broke Jagr is record for the most votes ever in a single season.

Well obviously it was not REAL hockey fans voting. There were probably a ton of hard core homers and people who barely watch hockey yet think Crosby is a god who went in and voted for him.

Simple, it is not the ''real hockey fans'' that are voting. It is the people who just want to vote for their favourite player.
