Vancuver gives:Roberto Luongo, the Sedin brothers. Toronto gives:Vesa Toskala, Matt Stajan, Jason Blake, 1st and 2nd round picks

Are you kidding me? Vancouver would not give those 3 players for the entire toronto roster and all of their prospects.

Thats a horrible trade for Vancouver. They are trading away 3 all star players all who were first round picks for a mediocore goalie 2 line 3 players and a couple of draft picks. Just because Blake makes a lot of money it does not mean he is a good player. A GM would have to be nuts to make this deal.

l think Toronto would get a better deal. Those are 3 very talented players Vancouver would be giving up. The 3 Toronto players are good, but not as consistant as the Vancouver players

Toronto is getting a far better deal. Toskala is decent and Stajan and Blake are average players. Luongo is a franchise goalie and the Sedin twins are just great players.

First off l would like to say that yes in theory the Leafs would be getting the better of the deal, but with that said one could also make a case that the Canucks would be winning the deal.

For the Leafs they r getting a franchise goaltender, & a pair of all-star calliber players. However the Sedin is r UFA is next summer, & with the economic situation, & the cap possible dropping to 47M the Leafs may not be able to keep the Sedin's. However with Luongo, the Leafs really would have no need for Pogge, which provides them with a blue chip prospect which they can now trade.

As for the Canucks, they r losing Luongo, but r getting Toskala, who by all accounts is no slouch himself. Yes his stats r not the greatest, but consider that the team he has been playing for is re-building as well. So as a person who watches all Leaf games l can say for certain that Vesa is the only reason the Leafs even win games. As for Stajan, he is a good young talent, & has shown signs of being a very capable #2 center. As for Blake, that may be a pure cap move, but he has shown signs of the 40 goal man from 2 years ago, & the one thing u get is a hard worker who comes to play night in & out, & in the West a gritty guy like Blake may do the trick, whereas the Sedins look like Eastern Conference like players. Finally the 1st round pick. That could be huge for the Canucks. The Leafs this season r bound to finish bottom 3, so the Canucks would be getting a Tavares-esk player. A pure scorer is what the Canucks need, & picking top 3 u can get that.

Also going back to getting rid of Dan, & Henrik, that may be because the Canucks r thinking of going after both Hossa & Gaborik this summer, to play them with Demitra. If the Canucks want those guys they need to clear cap space in Luongo, & would not be able to keep the Sedins.

All in all, l think the Leafs still win the deal, but if l was a Vancouver fan, l would not be running for the hills, as this (pretend) trade is not all that bad cause think with those players like Stajan, or the picks u could trade them for a star, & build the team up even more.

This is not a case of who gets the better deal but who loses the least. Vancouver will lose the least in this trade.Toronto gives up three players who have some up side in their long range plans for three players who wont fit into their long range plans & will burn up 50% of the salary cap by themselves next year. That says nothing about the two draft picks which have a long range advantage for the Leafs.
There is no reason for either team to make that trade so it wo not happen. It is of no benefit to either team.

Damn, Toronto is gotta throw in Luke Schenn and Jiri Tlusty just to make it even.

Vancouver is not trading Luongo. If they did, Mike Gillis (Nucks GM) would be out of a job real fast. That deal will never ever happen. Toronto would get the better end of it, but it will never ever happen.
