His numbers are good... except he never makes a save when the team needs it.He is an adequate backup, but the second the pressure is on he folds.He did it last year when Fleury was injured, and is doing it again this year.He just is not cut out to start in the NHL.
Stats do not change one simple fact... the Pens win with Fleury in the net, and lose with Sabu.

2.20 GAA & a .921 Save% for a back-up is more than can be expected. He has held the fort. Silly talk.
The fact that he makes a mere 500,000 makes it even sillier.

His current numbers r more than adequate, infact they r far superior to Fleury's.

Not only that, in 'crunch' situations (tied or behind) Sabourin is numbers (Save Percentage, GAA) get even better, while Fleury is decrease.

Unfortunately for Sabourin, the Penguins average almost a goal a game more for Fleury (the Penguins never scored fewer than 5 goals for Fleury in his last 5 games, while Fleury averaged 4 a game against).

As Bob said, Sabourin is more than doing his job. This will mark the 2nd year in a row where Fleury has been outplayed by his back-up.

l like him more than l did last year, but that is not saying much.

He needs a break. l mean he does not entirely flat out suck.. He is good when Fleury needs like a 1 game break, but hes definitely not cut out to playing how many games hes been.. l think we need Curry instead of Sabourin.
Dany is worn out, l mean he is a back up.. Not a starter! He is not used to playing game after game.

Cut the guy some slack, as a Penguin fan, l am glad we have Dany Sabourin. He is a back-up, he is not used to playing night in & night out. Today is game was not his fault, well at least not all the goals. Thank our defenseman & forwards for turning the puck over in our own end.

Dany is just running out of gas, plain & simple. He is a great back-up to have. When he only plays 1 game, every 1 or 2 weeks. he can usually keep our team in a game.

l would not give Curry the nod either, as our back-up sure, 2 wins in 3 games. but where did those two wins come from? Against the New York Islanders, which we can agree, is not the best offensive opponent. But l say we see what this kid can do, then l MAY, agree that we should get rid of Sabourin. But if we have no other good back-up, l want to keep Sabourin.

OR
a backup in which your team could win in front of.

he was very good in the beginning of the fleury injury, but he just kept falling.

i say we see what curry can do against a real team, not just the islanders and maybe he could be a good backup to fleury..just maybe.

l have seen everything l think. It is one thing to argue opinion, but they offered up facts.

And l would take better SA% and GAA any day over just wins. The teams luck will run out some day, and then what. you lose games.

The team doesnt play as well with him in the net even when he plays well enough to win, for whatever reason. Usually thats a team confidence thing. How is that Sabby is fault? He has the better numbers, yet the team doesnt respond to him with wins? To me thats a leadership problem and we all know who the leader of that team is.

If l read this right.....If Fleury wins 40 games by a score of 5-4, and Sabourin loses 40 games by a score of 1-0....Sabourin sucks and Fleury rocks......that is so wrong!

Dany is doing FAR better than anyone asked him to do. HE'S A BACKUP. He is not making the money Fleury is...he does not have people screaming his name the way Fleury does....but he HAS done far better than any backup normally does.

This is the second year in a row Fleury has had his job being taken over. Last year it was Conks & this year Sabu might give him a run for his money! Dany is numbers r great. Stop whining about them..they could be far worse!

Dany Sabourin might be a good backup based on numbers. He might be better than some other backups because he puts up good numbers AND he is cheap. He might be the best backup the Pens could have right now, because there is no other goalie in the organization who could do the job as well as he can.

l do not really care for Sabourin. He is not one of my favorite players & nothing about him makes me like the guy really. It is easy for me to be critical of him because of this. l guess l am only human after all. l do try not to be silly though & blame things on him that r not his fault, or make my expectations too high.

.That being said, I'd like to think l am even more critical of Marc-Andre Fleury because l actually do like him & he is the starter. You have to expect a lot out of a number one pick overall. He is young, but. l hope he keeps working hard at getting better, & continues to develop, because l would like to see better numbers out of him.
